Jean Kim-Snyder is a trauma informed mental health professional who utilizes both top down and bottom up modalities to resolve trauma. Top down modalities refer to those that engage with a person’s cognition or thinking. It focuses on using logic and behavior to identify and change negative thinking patterns. While this can be helpful, it is insufficient for trauma resolution. The bottom-up approach recognizes that trauma occurs on the level of body sensation and feelings prior to cognition. Bottom up approaches recognize that it is important for the client to experience a “felt sense” of safety BEFORE they can regulate their feeling states. Jean has training and experience in several trauma informed approaches including EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma informed yoga and Internal Family Systems to resolve trauma. In addition, Jean has experience treating both Big T traumas (sexual assault, combat) as well as little “T” traumas such as emotional abuse/neglect, bullying and racial discrimination.

Don’t see a provider who meets your needs here?
Email your location, insurance info (if any), and any specific requests (i.e. sliding scale, a therapist of color, a queer therapist, a therapist of a certain gender, a faith-based therapist, experience with a specific diagnosis or treatment modality) you have for your provider to [email protected] and our Approved Care Network team will get to work finding a provider who matches your needs and our criteria in your area.
The providers alone, and not Healing TREE, are responsible for the care that they provide. Healing TREE has, to the best of our ability, vetted their practices and made sure that they understand, are capable of, and trained in treating trauma. Currently, our network of approved care and supplemental care providers is only in the USA. If you have any questions or concerns about any of these providers, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
